Tour in the new exhibition «Cacao! Einverleibte Exotik»
About 2000 years ago, the Maya royal families in Central America drank chocolate drinks. Even earlier, people in the Amazon grew cacao trees. 500 years ago, cacao fruit started to travel around the world. With inventions and help from Swiss companies, chocolate as we know it today was created. Cacao farming and trade have some issues, so small Swiss factories focus on fairness and quality. This tour shows how cacao goes from a drink to Swiss chocolate.
This tour is specifically suitable for children in the 6th grade, as the history of chocolate is covered in the textbook YoungWorld 4 in the 5th chapter.
